The 1000 Hills CTO is constantly looking at ways in which to reach out to potential tourists both locally and around the world. One of the easiest and hands down, the most cost effective, is Google Ads. Throughout December we ran a limited campaign, and here's why you need to know about it.

Google Ads Campaign – December 2019

Exciting news for all our 1000 Hills CTO members! Mindful of the fact that we are in the busiest tourism season throughout the year, the CTO has embarked on a Google Ads campaign to promote the area to prospective visitors.

Over the past few weeks the 1000 Hills CTO has been running Google Ads campaigns to raise awareness of the products that 1000 Hills offers, from activities such as horseriding, boating, fishing etc (far too many to list here), to restaurants and accommodation sites within the 1000 Hills area.

The aim of the Google Ads campaign will be to drive traffic to the 1000 Hills website. And this is where you, our members can benefit! But in order to do so, you need to do a little housekeeping and admin.

1. Ensure You Are A Paid Up Member

The 1000 Hills website features paid up members of the 1000 Hills CTO. If you are not paid up because it slipped your mind (it happens, we’ve all been there) then without a moments thought, get in touch with the office and Thulani or Sandile will help you get up to date quick like.

2. Update Your Details On The Website

This is an important one. If your details are out of date, if your contact number of wrong, or the email address directs mail to who knows where, then right off the bat you’re not going to benefit from this awesome campaign! So visit the 1000 Hills Website and check the details. If they are incorrect, then fire off a friendly email to the office and let them know what the corrections are and they’ll get to it asap.

3. Write Award Winning Copy

Ok, so it doesn’t need to be award winning, but it should appeal to visitors who may be interested in what you have to offer. In spite of what many claim, people do still take the time to read. But they are not going to read a novel – they want to known the 5 “w’s”; what, why when where and how (oops, that is 4 “w’s” and an “h”).

Break your copy writing into easy to digest paragraphs, just a few lines each. Use headings where you can (kinda like we did here, clever hey?) and use active voice rather than a passive voice.

Lastly but probably the most important, think about your audience and write your copy as if you were talking to them directly! If you’re not sure about what that means then read your website copy to that friend that isn’t afraid to pull and punches; if they start to yawn half way through then it’s a good idea to rethink what you wrote.

4. Update Images

This is kinda a big deal, if the images you’ve provided us are outdated then give us new ones! If your B&B has a new look, then lets shout it to the world! If you’ve added a new attraction to your site, then we all want to know about it!

Again consider your audience. You may love your garden but 20 images of a tree may not be enough to convince people to visit you (unless it’s a very special tree of course, in which case have at it). So go through your image albums files and find 8 to 10 images that speaks about the experience you offer, whether it be romance, a home away form home or luxury and get those uploaded – there was never a better time than right now!

5. Lastly, Check Those Stats

Once the current campaigns are over, the CTO will publish the stats gathered and post them here, check out the stats and think about how you can use them to market your business. Remember that in this day and age, most visitors are looking for an experience, something that they will look back on fondly; sometimes it's the little things that count.
